Back in 2016, Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin organized a lavishing fundraiser to help Hillary Clinton’s campaign. The tickets for the event cost over $30,000.
Tomlin also put a clause on the event- either you pay the ticket money and get to meet Clinton, or you pay ‘only’ $10,000 to attend.
Tomlin has always had political tendencies, and after his team took the knee during the national anthem recently, things escalated even further. To many, this was a clear pro-liberal move.
“We’re not going to play politics,” Tomlin stated prior to the game against the Chicago Bears. “We’re not participating in the anthem today. Not to be disrespectful to the anthem, but to remove ourselves from the circumstance.”
Many suggested things became too political in the world of sports, and when former Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva, stepped on the field to support the anthem, he somehow became the person to blame.
Tomlin’s fundraiser move was not the first of this kind, organizing or engaging in pro-liberal events. The couple did the same to support the reelection of Barack Obama as well.
“The coupled donated a total of $70,000 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2012,” CBS Sports notedin June 2016. “That money came on top of a $25,000 donation that Kiya Tomlin made to Obama’s Victory Fund in 2008. Kiya has also donated a total of $2,700 to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, which is the maximum individual donation allowed by law.”
It is one thing to have a political opinion on a certain subject, but to have your business painted in all-liberal colors and push for non-patriotic protests, well that is totally different.Someone might want to give Tomlin a business 101 class.
